Trout Lake Station's 2nd Annual Open House was a huge success. With over 200 guests, scientists got to show their summer research, along with fundamental lake biology. Visitors got to try their hand at plant and fish identification, zooplankton sampling, and get creative with crafts!

    Like the Hasler Lab open house in Madison, visitors could take boat rides out on the lake to get first-hand experience using limnological tools. Unlike our big research vessel, the Limnos, Trout Lake visitors had to settle for aluminum folding chairs in an aluminum boat!
    Throughout the afternoon, students and faculty stayed busy talking with visitors about their work. Here, students explain the displays for an invasive species air-drying experiment and boater survey research.
