Trout Lake Station's 2nd Annual Open House was a huge success. With over 200 guests, scientists got to show their summer research, along with fundamental lake biology. Visitors got to try their hand at plant and fish identification, zooplankton sampling, and get creative with crafts!

    Susan Knight again provided one of the more popular stations, displaying dozens of macrophytes (aquatic plants) and invertebrates like crayfish, mussels and even freshwater jellyfish.
    A small freshwater jellyfish swims through the water. Many visitors were surprised to learn that freshwater jellies are found throughout the United States (although they're rare this far north in Wisconsin).
